Pandora MHWaveEdit new release

Some days ago i released an updated version of my MHWaveEdit port (now in sync with the original author
at version 1.4.23).
In this release i changed params to enable the program to start in a more large window and made Pandora params default at start so no need to change much (but you still need to enable the mic on XFCE mixer panel).

I have tested it recording for more than 60 min and didn’t crashed.

Pandora – Shmupacabra

My new port for Pandora is a shump/bullet hell stile game created by Arturs Grebstelis and called Shmupacabra.
The game is programmed using C/SDL+OpenGL and lua library, and on Pandora is running thanks the great Lunixbochs GLshim library a lib that automatically translate (almost all) OpenGL calls to OpenGLES 1.x
I considered this a beta release as sometimes (when there are many bullets on screen) the frame rate visibly drop down (tested only on my CC 256MB RAM Pandora), and ill try to study the code to obtain more speed.

Pandora – Simple Screen Recorder

In the last days i have spent some time on porting an interesting application for Pandora, a program that could record in a video what is currently showing on the LCD of Pandora.
Such application is called Simple Screen Recorder and is realized by Maarten Baert.
Is a QT based program that is usign FFmpeg/Libav to encode the video that is captured from the screen.
This is the main features taken directly from author’s page:

  • Graphical user interface (Qt-based).
  • Faster than VLC and ffmpeg/avconv.
  • Records the entire screen or part of it, or records OpenGL applications directly (similar to Fraps on Windows).
  • Synchronizes audio and video properly (a common issue with VLC and ffmpeg/avconv).
  • Reduces the video frame rate if your computer is too slow (rather than using up all your RAM like VLC does).
  • Fully multithreaded: small delays in any of the components will never block the other components, resulting is smoother video and better performance on computers with multiple processors.
  • Pause and resume recording at any time (either by clicking a button or by pressing a hotkey).
  • Shows statistics during recording (file size, bit rate, total recording time, actual frame rate, …).
  • Can show a preview during recording, so you don’t waste time recording something only to figure out afterwards that some setting was wrong.
  • Uses libav/ffmpeg libraries for encoding, so it supports many different codecs and file formats (adding more is trivial).
  • Can also do live streaming (experimental).
  • Sensible default settings: no need to change anything if you don’t want to.
  • Tooltips for almost everything: no need to read the documentation to find out what something does.
  • In order to be able to encode in many format i have added to the LibAvcodec many libs like x264, Theora, Vorbis, ILBC, lame, Twolame, opencore, visualon, wavpack, the only missing codec is libvpx that i was not able to compile.

    Pandora version is missing an important feature, OpenGL recording, as it need a special injection library to work, that is not compiled because its using Elf Hacks thats is available for cpu i386 only.

    Pandora – Fade to Black new release 0.18.3

    After some comments that my previous release of Fade to Black didn’t work at all on new Pandora’s using recent drivers, but still work good on my first model, i finally recompiled the recently released code from original author (Gregory Montoir)on his github space and using the last release of EGLPORT by Pickle.
    After some help from Pandora forum members, i have now a good working game, with a good speed @600 Mhz on my machine a CC Pandora = first model.
    With this release i added, into the PND, the original demo files as a bonus if someone doesn’t have the full game datas to try, anyway i only have found a version on the net that is somewhat broken (version 0.90e) as it exit the game after some doors on the refectory, this is not happen with the full game where all is working good.

    Lastly i have added some Pandora screenshot of the game and the complete source code.

    Pandora – LeoCAD a simple CAD for Lego Models

    My latest addiction to Pandora software is LeoCAD a simple and lightweight and Open Source CAD program to create Lego Models. The Windows and Linux version is using OpenGL to run instead Pandora version runs with MESA-GL libs (so don’t use GLES libs for now) provided by Codeblocks PND (by Ptitseb) and running speed is not bad @600Mhz on my Pandora (first version with 256MB RAM). Maybe i could try to implement a GLES version of the code in the future.

    Pandora – Imagination 3.0

    Imagination is a is a lightweight and simple DVD slide show maker. From a bunch of photos and some music files you can assemble a slideshow with some fancy effects and than export all into a video.
    Original author is Giuseppe Torelli and his page is available here.

    Imagination at present features 69 transition effects, random function to automatically set a random transition on all the selected slides, cut/copy/paste ability on the slides, Ken Burns ability, text on the slides with some text animations, ability to add an empty slide with a gradient editor and export of the slideshow as OGV Theora/Vorbis, widescreen FLV video and 3GP for mobile phones.

    On Pandora (for now) exporting work only for VOB/MPEG2 (DVD size) and h264/mpeg4 (HD), FLV need more testing
    and OGV and 3gp are not working.

    Pandora – MHWaveEdit

    mhWaveEdit is a graphical program for editing, playing and recording sound files. It is lightweight, portable, user-friendly and handles large files very well.

    Some weeks ago i have ported this utility only to test my build of libSox for Pandora for another project, and so i discovered one good feature of this prog, the ability to record via the internal microphone of the Pandora.
    To work you need to enable (via XFCE mixer) the mic before starting the program, here is the dedicated thread

    mhWaveEdit è un programma con interfaccia grafica (GUI) in grado di registrare, riprodurre ed editare file sonori. E’ leggero, user-friendly e supporta anche file di grandi dimensioni ( a seconda della dimensione della SD nella versione Pandora).

    Qualche settimana fà mentre cercavo di testare la libreria Sox compilata per Pandora, mi sono imbattuto in questo piccolo programma e una volta compilato ho scoperto che era in grado di registrare anche dal microfono interno del Pandora, cosa che prima era possibile solo ricorrendo al terminale ed usando arecord. Prima di poter registrare dovrete comunque abilitare il microfono interno (che di default è spento) attraverso il mixer di XFCE.

    Caanoo – L’Abbaye des Morts

    Here is my latest port for Caanoo …L’Abbaye des Morts an original GameMaker game by Locomalito recently reworked and released with GPLv3 licence by Nevat and available for Linux.
    Thanks to fact that this remake is done using C and SDL libs an user of Pandora forum did the port and now i have adapted this code to Caanoo.
    I have also done some work on a GP2X version but, for now don’t want to release it, because is really too slow to be playable. This Caanoo version also is a bit slow but instead is playable.

    The controls are :

    DPAD = Move directions left/right/down (to crouch) ..up is not implemented

    X = jump and start the game

    HELP1 = change gfx from 8 bit to 16 bit

    Y = in the main menu show info of the game.

    Ecco a voi il mio port per Caanoo, si chiama, L’Abbaye des Morts e si tratta di un remake di un gioco
    creato da Locomalito con l’ausilio del GameMaker e successivamente ripreso da Nevat portato in C/SDL e rilasciato con licenza GPLv3.
    Il mio port nasce dall’uscita della versione Pandora a cura di un utente del forum (doragasu), e dove io ho aggiunto i controlli per giocare con Caanoo.
    Ho anche cercato di portarlo sulla GP2X (testato sulla mia F200) ma al momento non lo pubblico perchè è ancora troppo lento per essere giocabile, al contrario della versione Caanoo, che è leggermente meno veloce della versione Pandora/PC ma cmq è decisamente giocabile.
    Potete comunque constatare voi stessi grazie al video che ho realizzato dove si vede come gira su Caanoo e GP2X

    Pandora – Super Tirititran

    I have just uploaded a new port…Super Tirititran by CaninoStudios
    This a classic shmup but ambiented on the city of Cadiz (in Spain).
    Its a spanish game and spanish is the only language available for the game.
    I have tried to change it but is a BIG work and don’t have such time (and motivation), plus is not essential to play the game.

    Warning : This game is very hungry about RAM, if you (like me) have a 256MB Pandora use the swap tools and enable a swapfile BEFORE run the game…otherwise tend to crash.
    Maybe on 512MB ram Pandoras this is not a problem…

    Keys are fixed and is not possible to change in game :
    DPAD = move
    Return = select options
    A or B (button) = primary fire
    X (button) = secondary fire
    SPACE = access intercom (talk with other)
    R (rear button) = access extra items
    L (rear button) = choise selected item
    P = Pause
    S = take screenshot
    ESC = Quit

    Ecco il mio nuovo port per Pandora, Super Tirititran creato da CaninoStudios vedi qui la pagina dei programmatori originali Super Tirititran by CaninoStudios .
    Si tratta di un classico sparatutto ma ambientato nella citta di Cadiz (Spagna), dove voi impersonerete il supereroe che deve salvare la città dal malvagio di turno.
    Purtroppo il gioco è disponibile solamente in lingua spagnola (dato che i programmatori sono tutti spagnoli…), ma comunque il gioco risulta giocabile tranquillamente anche se non si comprende la lingua.
    Ho scelto di portarlo su Pandora perche sono rimasto colpito dalla bella grafica disegnata nel gioco e negli intermezzi disegnati molto graziosamente in stile fumettesco.
    Per chi ha Pandora come me con 256MB di ram di sistema consiglio di attivare, prima di lanciare il gioco, un piccolo programma, presente nel menu di XFCE di Pandora, che abilita l’uso di un file di swap ( io ne uso uno da 300MB), questo perchè la grafica caricata dal gioco impiega quasi tutta la ram libera di Pandora e si rischia, nelle situazioni con molti oggetti su schermo di far andare in crash il gioco, mentre utilizzando il file di swap tutto procede al meglio.
    Per chi invece dispone della versione Pandora con 512MB di ram questo problema non si presenta, e dunque non deve utilizzare nessun altro accorgimento.

    Questi i tasti utilizzati :
    DPAD = Muove il personaggio
    Return = Conferma opzione di menu
    A or B (pulsanti) = Fuoco principale
    X (pulsanti) = Fuoco secondario
    SPACE = Accede alla schermata comunicazioni con altri personaggi
    R (pulsante post dx) = accede al menu armi extra
    L (pulsante post sx) = seleziona l’oggetto evidenziato
    P = Pausa
    S = Cattura schermo
    ESC = Esce dal gioco

    Pandora – PyWright Game Engine

    With this game engine, written in Python+Pygame, you could create or play a game in the same vein as the popular Phoenix Wright series for GBA and Nintendo DS.     I have packaged up this engine on a PND for Pandora.

    To play you need to run the first time the PND, it’s then install all the necessary files to your SD card.
    Now go to this address and download a game of your choise.

    Put the content of the archive on your SD card on the dir \pandora\appdata\PyWright\games\

    Now rerun the PND and select games on the main screen, you should see your new installed game available.

    The keys used are :
    Enter or tap the screen: next line of text

    Space : back out of menus (that can be backed out)

    z: press in cross exams, flip from evidence to profiles in court record

    x: present from court record menu

    up,down,left,right: navigate menus, scroll through cross exams

    F5: quicksave, only use when running a case

    F7: quickload, only use when running a case

    Escape: Show settings menu
